The Lord has presented Amen Prison Ministry with a lot of prison challenges over the past 18 years. As an extension of Destiny Church located in San Antonio, we are blessed and privileged to serve the Lord in the Texas Prisons in this capacity.
Now, just when we get comfortable doing His Will, He presents us with an opportunity that no other ministry in Texas has ever had. He has made a way for us to enter and minister in what is called Administrative Segregation areas. These areas are also known as the Hole or isolation area which are prisons within a prison. These people are kept in the cell 23 hours of the day and are allowed 1 hour of recreation in a larger scale cell surrounded by a chain link fence in the middle area of the section. The only outdoors is the sun peeking through a gigantic skylight in the ceiling. The appearance of the inmate is like a caged animal running in circles, jumping up and down, exercising and letting some steam off.
Not too many ministries are willing to participate in these areas. There are approximately 500 inmates in this Unit. This is where the infamous Connally Seven group escaped from. The isolated inmates are either Mexican Mafia, Pistoleros, Texas Syndicate, Aryian Nation gang members. For their own safety, they are isolated.
The Ministry time is from 8:30 A.M. to 5 P.M. The time allocated is not sufficient but we realize the Holy Spirit is in control. An average of 54 inmates either make new decisions or rededications.
Let me tell you one and all, the Prison Ministry group, Felice and I are up to the challenge! I mean this opportunity to take Christ and the Truth of His word into these prison areas, neither of which have been presented before, really stirs me up. I am so excited about this ministry opportunity. We are talking about live one-on-one witnessing for a group that no faith-based ministry has ever had access to before.
That is our goal. To bring broken and corrupted mankind, with the anointing of The Holy Spirit, to the saving knowledge of the Victory that overcomes the world through Jesus Christ. Those individuals incarcerated in our prison systems. All Glory To Him.
Our Lord Jesus Christ has made a way and opened doors to the various following Units and institutions: the Bexar County Jail, Dominquez, Connally, Eastham, Dilley, Torres, Cotulla, Garza West, Brownwood Youth Facility. These units are in Texas.
